My Dance Explorations

So after I did all my research on dance and styles, I proceeded to create my own choreography and explore with new information and moves I learned in the styles ballet, modern, and jazz. In my choreography, I really tried to show the difference between each move. In these videos, you may notice that I have not perfected everything I taught myself in my choreography. However, I know that I am going to keep on practicing and trying until I get it. I hope this can inspire you to challenge yourself and create your own choreography. Remember, if you can't get something right away, it is totally fine! Keep on practicing and don't give up, you got this!

Ballet Dance

For my ballet dance, I wanted to do more of a contemporary ballet dance as this is something new and out of my comfort zones. I picked a song that is not as classical and tried adding more of a contemporary aspect. However I still kept it ballet by using traditional ballet moves including turned out pirouettes, different small jumps, ballet runs, and more. In my choreography, I tried to keep the gracefulness and sophistication while still showing preciseness and technique.

Modern Dance

For my modern dance, I used more of an upbeat song and made my choreography match the energy and tone of the music. In my choreography, I showed how modern differentiates from other styles by dancing more freely, naturally, and using moves common in modern dance such as floor work, jumps, and moves with intentional bent legs and flexed feet.

Jazz Dance

In my jazz piece, I wanted it to be high energy but also have a slight contemporary twist. I used the song as an inspiration for my dance by making my moves slower and have more of a flow on the slow parts. For the fast parts of the song, I used faster paced and more dynamic moves. However, I kept energy and liveliness throughout the whole piece. I used moves involving jumps, legs and turned in pirouettes, all used in jazz.
